In my recent visit to my beautiful and lovely home town, I thought of visiting the dentist once (since it was long back I visited the dentist to remove my bottom left third molar [wisdom teeth] and that affected the adjacent teeth).
With lot of courage, I once again stepped into that room with full of deadly tools sounding weird. My mom accompained me as it was the same doctor who's done tooth replantation to my mom. When I told the doctor the issue that I had, he took an x-ray and told that the adjacent teeth was spoiled to a bit and hence only RCT can be done. Now, listening to this word, made my nerves stiff as I hate this from long back. After brainstorming with him for a couple of minutes, he finally convinced me, that there's nothing else to do, except pulling out. In my past experiences I've heard a lot about RCT, where people say that its very painfull and I really thought of disappearing from that place at once, to escape from the doctor.
I then called my wife and she told (again and again) that its goanna be painfull but there's no other alternative. Then I thought of what would to me of not being able to eat my favourite things in my home town if I go for this procedure. But, then after balancing the pros and cons I found that not only its cheaper here but I can take sufficient rest even. So with lot of daring and courage I went again to meet the doctor and told him that am ready for the battle. Then what....!!!!
I laid on the chair, they took one anaesthetic injection, injected into the gums and then the battle began. The doctor cleaned the whole thing and then I was told to clean my mouth with Irrigation (a strange bitter liquid) then he filled something in the teeth and told me to go home, giving me pain killers and antibiotics. But, to my wonder, I didnt had any pain even after the effect of anaesthesia got down. I was the luckiest in the world at that time. The doc told me to eat only curd rice, but as you all know, i ate everything from the other side of the mouth.
Then later I was called for 2 more sittings to clean and finalize the things, on successive alternative days. In these 2 settings there was no anaesthesia given (as its not required) and I didn't had any pain.
Finally I was told that I need to put a cap on that teeth, to save it from accidental accidents which would cost from 800/- to 2000/-. Hmm..... Now am leaving this to the future to decide whether to wear a cap or not. By the way, the whole process of RCT cost me 1200/- in my town which is much cheaper when I compare it to Bangalore.
